About us ......
Charlotte Movement Arts is the teaching practice of Movement Educator, Alissa Waller. Ms. Waller has been a professional movement instructor for over 25 years. She has worked in all aspects of the movement field as an instructor, mentor and studio director.
Alissa has been involved in the movement education of hundreds of instructors nationwide. She has taught well over 35,000 individual client and group sessions and has guest taught for numerous studios and universities.
Formerly a ballet dancer, Alissa earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance at the University of Arizona with an emphasis on classical ballet performance, pedagogy, and kinesiology. She began teaching Pilates professionally in 1997 and is a twice certified Comprehensive Pilates Certification holder. She is accredited as a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher, is a member of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science and the Performing Arts Medicine Association.
Ms. Waller has also been teaching the Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis systems of movement since 1998 and is a Certified Master Trainer in all aspects of the methods. Her practice specializes in the applications of Pilates and Gyrotonic exercise to Conditioning programs for Dancers both amateur and professional. She instructs all levels of ballet as well as specialized Conditioning for Dancers. Many of her students have gone on to professional careers as professional dancers, teachers, artists, and lifelong healthy movers.
