sessions for dancers

Many dancers, both amateur and professional, turn to various body conditioning methods for cross training. Pilates Conditioning and the GYROTONIC® method are excellent systems for addressing the specific demands and challenges dancers face in keeping their bodies injury free and able to function at peak levels of performance.

Dance demands a specific balance of hyper-mobility and strength, making conditioning beyond traditional dance class a necessity for many dancers. As a professional ballet dancer herself, Alissa Getz Waller successfully managed her own dance related aches, pains and injuries with Pilates Conditioning and the Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis methods. These systems kept her body strong enough for a second performing career in her 30's -uncommon for most dancers. She has this personal experience in healing her own body as well as over 20 years of experience working with dancers of all ages, as they handle their own unique physical challenges.

Alissa has trained professional dancers from the Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Chicago Ballet, Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Pennsylvania Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Carolina Ballet and Elements Contemporary Ballet along with many aspiring professionals and students of dance.

Alissa's technical ballet background and her movement education in Pilates, Yoga, Gyrotonic, and Dance Conditioning give her a unique perspective and understanding of the dancer's body and how to best achieve longevity and artistic freedom in one's dance career.
